Oklahoma Country House
This barn-style, three-bedroom holiday house in the Midwest US was relatively new and full of potential but completely lacking in character when we assumed the role of architect and interior designer for its refurbishment.
The first steps were repainting the exterior from cream to a graphic grey and white, and gutting the interior to create a fresh, dramatic and unforgettable look. The brief for this house was based around tailoring its design to its location and rich history – the state of Oklahoma is home to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, and hosts the annual Red Earth Native American cultural festival.
A palette of rich timbers, reds, blacks and plaids was chosen, mixed with Navajo-inspired decorations and furnishings.
