Erksineville Dark Apartment
Black, edgy and sophisticated: that was the brief for this inner-city two-bedroom apartment.
Setting the scene for the sophisticated dark-toned look, all walls have been handcrafted in a charcoal grey stucco finish, which offers a sumptuous polished texture that transforms dramatically with the changing light. Continuing the look to achieve a striking ‘bachelor pad’ feel, the living room features a black leather ‘Tactile’ sofa from Baxter lifted and lightened with gold and painterly cushions.
Above that, the bold black brushstrokes and white background of an original piece from Kerry Armstrong, commissioned for the property, brings stunning graphic contrast. Warmer, smoky hues are introduced via elements such as the glass-top vintage coffee table by Paul Evans, the perforated gold Kelly Wearstler drum tables, and the hand-knotted silk and Tibetan wool rug from Greg Natale’s forthcoming ‘Composites Collection’ in custom-coloured toasty golden tones.
